Although FileMaker, Inc. has offered web publishing support in the past. FileMaker WebDirect allows a user to enjoy a ‘FileMaker-like’ experaince through a web browser, and now it’s faster than previous versions. Many solutions which where desinged for use with ‘traditional’ FileMaker Pro will simply work in FileMaker WebDirect with little of no adjustments. (** watch the videos below for warnings)
It is important to understand that FileMaker WebDirect does NOT replace FileMAker Pro. When utilized in a hosted environment (like Worldcloud) users may connect with FileMaker Pro, FileMaker Pro Advanced, FileMaker Go, and FileMaker WebDirect- all at the same time. Each ‘client’ has it’s own set of advantages and disadvantages.
Developers will still itilize FileMaker Pro Advanced to create and design powerful databases, power-users will utilize FileMaker Pro for it’s plug-in support, robust print capabilities, and more app-like qualities. Users on iOS devices like the iPad and iPhone will utilize FileMaker Go as it supports GPS access, signature capture and other more robust features.
The nice thing about FileMaker WebDirect is now there is a more mobile, accessible ‘client’ so that causal FileMaker users may access their solutions and having more deployment options is never a bad thing…
Why Consider FileMaker WebDirect
- Deliver FileMaker content to a web browser
- No need to own/buy FileMaker Pro for each user
- No web programming skills required
- Allows multiple user to share the same database
- No up-front when combined with Worldcloud hosting
- Works in concert with FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Go
In short, WebDirect does more to help developers deploy FileMaker than any other technology which FileMaker has offered in the past. WebDirect allows a ‘non-programmer’ to quickly design, development, and deploy to the web…
FileMaker WebDirect is optional/ available on any of our FileMaker Server Hosting Plans…
